Cherishing is the closest word we have in English for the beautiful Japanese word amae, which means “the expectation to be sweetly and indulgently loved.” Or a term the Portuguese use—tomando conta, which means “filling oneself up with special care and attention.”

Indeed 🙂
I rarely use the word “cherishing” because it is so special to me. That is such a perfect definition of it. I’ve just had a lovely weekend away with my husband and I feel cherished again after months of mommy-rush.
Isn’t it simply a divine feeling. I am over here celebrating your experience of it!
